Welcome to MindMatters
‘We heal in the presence of another who is not afraid of our pain’
- Bonnie Badernoch
There are times in our lives when we could all do with a little help to rediscover our joie de vivre. Specialising in recovery from trauma, and the particular challenges that neurodiversity poses for women, I can help guide you towards a life with more connection, more ease, authenticity, resilience, and, perhaps most importantly, more joy.

About
My name is Anne Crossey and I run MindMatters as a private mental health service in West Cork, Ireland.
My background is in Philosophy, and I have an M.Phil in Psychoanalytic Studies (TCD), M.Sc in Psychology (Brunel), a Postgraduate Diploma in Treating Trauma and CPTSD, and a Professional Diploma in Counselling Psychology. I am an accredited CBT Practitioner and have trained with well-renowned figures in the field such as Bessel van der Kolk, Peter Levine, and Janina Fisher. I teach night clases in Psychology and have spoken at Universities in Ireland and in UK, incl. TCD and UCC, about mental health issues.
Being neurodiverse in a world designed for neurotypicals can often both overlap with and/or show similarities in many ways to trauma responses, with for example, emotional sensitivity and/or disregulation, anxiety, intrusive thoughts, feelings of shame, exhaustion/shut-downs and problems with memory and executive function, to name but a few. These are the areas that I enjoy working with.
I use a combination of techniques: CBT, variations of EMDR-type approaches, and other techniques from psychotherapy and counselling psychology as well as my own Affirmative-Flourishing system.
For more info on my other trauma recovery and neurodiversity certs and trainings, see here.

Set in the beautiful Myross House, in Leap, in-person clients benefit from access to the clinic grounds, including a woodland walk past a waterfall, and down to an old stone pier, if they feel like it before or after their appointment. Situated between Skibbereen and Rosscarbery, Leap is convenient for most of West Cork.
Online Sessions
e70
Online sessions are available and offer convenience for anyone across Ireland who cannot get to Leap in person. These appointments must be scheduled by email rather than through the online booking form.
Group sessions and Events
I frequently facilitate group workshops and events around various aspects of happiness, managing anxiety etc.

Do you wonder if you might be autistic or ADHD? There are lots of free DIY tests online. I quite like this one. Bear in mind that it is not 100% accurate, and also isn’t a clinical diagnosis. https://embrace-autism.com/aspie-quiz/
